All players must have a Frog Hollow Membership which will include their GHIN handicap index. Starting time is 5:00pm shotgun start. Playoffs will have an earlier start time. You must be in your cart ready to depart to your starting hole 10 minutes prior to shotgun start. Hole assignments will be on the schedule. Score cards for all matches will be turned into the pro shop immediately after the conclusion of your match for posting.
All play will be from the white tee markers.
All league players will use their GHIN handicap. Any player without a GHIN handicap will play at a zero handicap.
Each player is to play their own ball and record their actual score for that hole. An “X” may not be recorded as a score.
All white stakes will be played as “Out of Bounds” requiring a penalty of stroke and distance. Lost balls also require a penalty of stroke and distance or for two penalty strokes, the player may take relief by dropping the original ball or another ball in this relief area.
If a player is in doubt that his ball is out of bounds or lost, please hit a provisional ball to improve pace of play.
The team that wins the prior hole has honors on the next tee (4, net 3 beats a 4)
USGA Match Play rules apply.
Matches will be played on Thursday nights. You can reschedule a match, but only in advance of the current week. You cannot make up a match after the current Thursday. If you do reschedule, Make sure the Frog Hollow Staff is notified. (Patrick or Matt)
Teams:
Team rosters are set on 8-1-2024. Team players must participate on their team in at least 13 of the 18 weeks to be eligible to participate in the playoffs. A team may consist of 2 subs. Team players must participate in at least 12 of the 18 weeks to be eligible to participate in the playoffs. If a golfer must drop late in the season, and the new golfer has not competed in 12 matches, the committee will vote regarding the roster change.
Substitutes:
A team may consist of 1 or 2 subs during the regular season. During the regular season, absent golfer is responsible to arrange for their sub. If this does not happen, a sub can be arranged by his partner. A sub must pay or be paid for by absent golfer.
A substitute list will be updated weekly and available on the league spreadsheet. Any player without a GHIN handicap will Play at a zero handicap.
If a sub is not used, the opposing team will be awarded 1 point for the absent golfer’s individual match and cannot earn quarter points on that individual match. The remaining golfer will play for his individual match and points and the team match points to include quarter points. Players will not shift positions. If the A player is absent, the B player will still play the B opponent.
Substitutes may not be used in the playoffs.
Scoring:
The low handicap golfer from each team will compete against each other (“A” Player). If both players have the same handicap INDEX, they must decide prior to the match which is the A Player, and which is the B Player.
Team Match: The low handicap golfer will play as a zero. The other golfers’ handicaps will be established off the low handicap golfer. The strokes will be applied to the most difficult holes. The maximum any player may receive is 1 stroke per hole.
Individual matches are worth 1 point, team match is worth 1 point, for a total of 3 points.
If the match is tied after nine holes, each team will receive ½ point.
Once a match has been won, individual or team, ¼ points will be awarded for each hole won.
There will be no quarter points in the playoffs.
To win a hole, a golfer must finish the hole and record the actual score. If a golfer determines he is out of the hole and picks up, he cannot win the hole and an ‘X’ is scored for that hole. Any recorded “X” will be scored using net double bogey as the maximum score for handicap purposes.
When a golfer wins against a no-show, 1 point will be awarded for that individual match. No ¼ points are available for that match.
If a golfer from each team opposing is a no-show, 0 points will be awarded to each team for the absent player.
If a team does not field a team for a match, the absent team forfeits and scores 0 points. The team that wins scores 3 points.
If teams cannot play on the scheduled date, they will try to arrange a make-up date but only prior to the original scheduled date of play. Any rescheduling of matches must be cleared through the Pro Shop Staff. (Patrick or Matt)
Weekly Closest to the Hole:
Each week there is a voluntary Closest to the Hole competition with a $5 entry fee. In the event of a player that has input into this pool having a “Hole-in-One” all moneys from that week’s contest go to that person to help defer their bar tab for said “Hole-in-One”.
Playoffs – to begin week of 08/22/2024
The top 32 teams will make the playoffs.
As a team loses in the League Playoffs, they are still encouraged to play in the weekly side games (closest to the pin).
Playoff matches are to be played on the scheduled Thursday. These matches may be rescheduled and played prior to the originally scheduled date.
The 18-hole Championship Match and Consolation Match will be scheduled for Sunday September 22nd. The League Outing and Awards Banquet will be held the same day.
Rain:
A match is official once 5 holes have been completed.
In the event of inclement weather, league play is at the sole discretion of the Frog Hollow Professional Staff. Communication of a cancellation will be made via email and text and will be as timely as possible. If no contact is made, it is each golfers responsibility to be prepared to play at the scheduled time.
Notable USGA Rules:
If there a question on a rule, a provisional ball is to be played, noting each score. A ruling will be made by the Rules Committee (Frog Hollow Golf Club Professional Staff) at the end of the match.
If a golfer has made a rule infraction, it is the opposing team’s responsibility to address the infraction at that time.
All golfers must mark their ball for identification and advise the other golfers of his mark.
All USGA rules apply during a match. Any local rules due to inclement weather/course conditions, will be made at the start of the match by Frog Hollow Professional Staff.
Hole 9 – sidewalk on left is out of bounds (OB).
Hole 18 – street on left is out of bounds (OB)
For ease of understanding and pace of play, for ALL HAZARDS including ponds and native grass, you may take a penalty drop within 2 club lengths, no closer to the hole for any ball that enters any hazard with a 1 stroke penalty with the exceptions listed below:
For example, if your ball carries the left pond by #17 green, then rolls back down into the pond you may drop near the edge of the pond, within 2 club lengths of your point of entry, no closer to the hole. The same would be true for a ball that carries the left pond by #17 green, then rolls back down into the pond.
Ponds in front of the tee on hole #6 and #14. Your options are to tee off again or proceed to the designated drop area. In each case, you are hitting your 3rd shot.
For pace of play purposes, we will use the adapted Out of Bounds rule. If you hit a ball Out of Bounds you may drop and hit 4 in the nearest part of the fairway to where the ball crossed the Out of Bounds line. Keep in mind that where the ball crossed and where the ball came to rest are not always the same. Where the ball crossed should be discussed and determined by both teams and/or the entirety of the group.
